FAQs About Transferring to Purdue Global

Admissions Questions

Purdue Global Credit Transfer Questions

  • How do I request an evaluation of prior college credits?

To begin the process of having your prior learning courses evaluated, contact each of your prior institutions and request that your official transcript be sent directly from your prior institution to the Office of the Registrar at document@purdueglobal.edu or by mail to:

    Purdue Global
    Office of the Registrar
    2550 Northwestern Avenue, Suite 1100
    West Lafayette, IN 47906

Note: Student-issued transcripts and transcripts submitted via fax are not accepted as official.

After you submit your official transcript, you don’t have to request an evaluation. Each official transcript that you send will be evaluated individually upon its arrival at the university. Once your transcript is evaluated, you can review your degree plan and connect with an Advisor to discuss your progress towards completion of a Purdue Global degree.

  • What is required for a course to transfer?

Courses must meet the following criteria to be eligible for Purdue Global transfer credit:

    • Completed at a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution
    • Included on an official transcript
    • Carry a grade of "C-" or better for undergraduate courses, or "B" or better for graduate courses; Purdue Global will consider grades of "Pass," "Credit," or similar, on an individual basis
    • Be at a college level and not considered remedial, college preparatory, or not at a college level
    • Fit into your degree plan
    • Meet any additional program-specific requirements
    • See the University Catalog for more information
  • If I am currently enrolled at another institution, how do I know which classes to take?

Purdue Global has an educational alliance (through an articulation agreement) with many institutions. Contact us for a full list or reach out to an Advisor at 844-PURDUE-G to learn more.

  • How many credits can I apply toward my bachelor's degree?

External credits earned through prior coursework or experience can count toward a maximum of 75% of an undergraduate credential. Program and state-specific exceptions may apply. Refer to the University Catalog for more information.

  • How do semester credits transfer to Purdue Global?

Purdue Global courses are made up of quarter credits. A semester credit is equal to 1.5 quarter credits. If you’re interested in seeing how your semester credits may transfer to Purdue Global, contact us today for your free pre-enrollment evaluation.

  • When do I need to submit my transcripts or other proof of prior learning

You must provide evidence of prior learning prior to the first day of the course for which the credit is intended; however, we strongly recommend that you provide your official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar as quickly as possible, and at least by the last day of the first term. After this point, in certain cases, we may deny you the opportunity for a transfer credit evaluation due to course scheduling factors.

If you wish to submit a portfolio for experiential learning credit, you are strongly encouraged to enroll in a credit for work experience course in your first two terms.

  • How do I know if I am an Indiana resident for tuition purposes?

The two ways to qualify for classification as a resident for tuition purposes are:

    1. You are a Dependent student (Parent or Legal Guardian remains partially or wholly financially responsible for you and/or you are being claimed as a dependent on someone else’s personal income taxes) and your Parent satisfies the Domicile requirement (including one year of consecutive residence) in Indiana prior to the first day of the academic session for which resident classification is sought. The move to Indiana must be predominantly for reasons other than to enable you to gain resident status for tuition purposes (such as moving because of a job transfer for a job located in Indiana).
    2. You are an Independent student (responsible for your own financial needs, have not been dependent upon your Parent or Legal Guardian for financial support for at least 12 months, and cannot be claimed as a dependent on anyone else’s personal income taxes) and have been domiciled in Indiana for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first day of classes of the academic session for which resident classification is sought. Your domicile must be established for a predominant purpose other than attending an institution of higher education.
